Hawaiki Cable Landing - Mangawhai
In 2018 Wilson Earthmoving Group Ltd played a key role in the beach landing of the fibre optic cable from Hawaii at Mangawhai Heads in Northland.
Using large buoys attached to the cable as it departed the vessel it was dragged off the ship and buried along the beach ready for connection.
Digging in-between the tides and coming up with an innovative Kiwi DIY method for dragging the cable we used two 25 tonne excavators to haul it. Check out this short video to see more…






Mangawhai Fire Station
Wilson Earthmoving Group were privileged to be one of the many companies and contractors involved in ensuring the community of Mangawhai have a new Fire Station. Our role in the project included:
Site preparation and bulk earthworks
Landscaping and planting
Over 1000m2 of concrete work for entrance ways, parking areas and pathways including all line marking
Mangawhai Fire Station was officially opened in November 2019.
